About Garry Goerdel

Garry is a life-long Texan, raised in Austin and settling in the Texas Hill Country.  He grew up loving the outdoors and spent his summers on a working cattle ranch in Central and West Texas. Garry discovered his love for art at a very young age and received encouragement along the way beginning with a third place win in a citywide art competition at the age of 8.  He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Art with a Minor in Art Education at Stephen F. Austin University where he developed a range of artistic styles.  Prior to retirement, Garry worked professionally as an artist for over 40 years.

“My paintings reflect a diversity of styles and approaches, ranging from realistic impressionism to contemporary styles. My paintings are based on life experiences influenced by my imagination and love of color. My contemporary paintings range from simple reflections in color to abstract expressionism. These are based in visual reality while using abstract features to evoke an emotional response. I use impressionism to varying degrees in my landscape and subject matter paintings for the freedom it allows me and again, use color to express emotion.”
